Dinner Rolls

Whenever I am bored of the same old bread I find at our local grocery store, I turn to my baking hobby and start making some. This time I gave these guys a shot and let me tell you, nothing compares to fresh baked rolls just pulled hot from the oven. This recipe is definitely a “must try” for all baking passionate out there.

OK, start with your mixer bowl. Pour the flour (duh!), a tsp of salt, ⅓ cup of sugar (but save like a tsp for yeast mixture), and mix for a bit.

In a cup or one of those measuring things, add the yeast along with a tsp of sugar and half of the milk, lukewarm. Let it rest for 10 minutes until it goes crazy.

Now take a sauce pan and heat the milk and butter, until the butter melts. Make sure you do not boil the milk though an easier way would be to use a microwave oven to melt the butter. Pour everything you have so far, including the egg yolks, over the flour and mix well for about 3 to 5 minutes with the hook attachment. Place the dough in an oiled bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise until it doubles, usually one to two hours.

When you are satisfied with the result, take it out and punch it down for a few times, then cut it into 16 pieces. Roll each piece to form a sphere. Place the spheres into a well buttered 9×13 inch (22×33 cm) pan and let them double again (about an hour again).

At this point you can brush the rolls with the egg whites and sprinkle with poppy seeds, or sesame seed, or… whatever you want.

Bake the rolls in a preheated oven at 375° F / 190° C for about 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown.

Enjoy your rolls, I couldn’t stop from eating :)

You don’t mention how much flour to use.

Coming back with a vengeance, my first post for month of February. I figured I better come up with something a little bit more exciting than my regular baking stuff, something with MEAT if possible. :) Well, here i am, hope you guys enjoy my recipe.

Cookies are great, but at some point you can't actually make a difference, no matter what fancy ingredients you use or the recipe you are following one thing is for certain, the cookie you just ate will soon be as forgettable as the next one... or so I thought.

What is awesome about banana bread? It is very fast and easy to make, tastes great and you don't have to throw away those bananas that you forgot to eat last week :). Oh and forget about butter spread, works best with Nutella and a glass of warm milk.

This is very easy to make and if you never had cheese pie Eastern European style, then you are in for a treat. Well there are actually two variations, one made with puff pastry and this one, both absolutely delicious and with the same feta and ricotta cheese filling. Beat that!

Let me tell you from the start, there is no such thing as Hawaiian pizza, I mean it was not invented in Hawaii if you were wondering. Weird enough, according to Wikipedia, it was created by some dudes in Chatham, Ontario... that's Canada :P and it consists of tomatoes, cheese, pineapple and Canadian bacon.

Back to pizza... well calzone is not exactly a pizza but it uses the same dough. Traditionally it is stuffed with tomatoes and mozzarella and may include other ingredients usually associated with pizza toppings, but you can definitely let your imagination do the talking and use whatever you want... that's why mine has a lot of meat, vegetarian anyone?
